M is for Mud Pies

Did you make mud pies as a child? I did under my grandmother's rose bushes. Capture simple old time child play and some grubby clothes. Grab some old pie tins, mud, flowers, sticks, and other treasures. Show your child how to make the letter "M" with sticks or rocks. Have your child take a picture of their creation.

Get Unplugged

I am an advocate of unplugged, experiential learning which is a fancy way of saying let's jump in puddles, fly kites, and play in the dirt. As a credentialed teacher and mom of young children, I looked for a fun and hands-on approach to teaching phonics and beginning reading. When I didn't find what I was looking for, I created my own grab and go program called Alphabetology. You can learn more at www.alphabetologybook.com. This blog will offer fun and easy projects and adventures that kids and parents will love. Put away the worksheets, get on some play clothes, and let's have fun!
